In a final confrontation with Ken, Kuroh reveals that Ken was not born but made in a military lab with the goal of wiping out the Alpha-worms, hence his immunity to the parasite. With the help of Wilson himself, Ken manages to rescue the hostages, after having to kill his former teammates turned Carriers. All GUIDE personnel, including director Michael Wilson, are taken hostage. The bombing, however, was meant as a distraction to allow Kuroh to lead a strike team of Carrier military operatives into the GUIDE headquarters. Ken disposes of the Mites, catapulting the last one into the air out of harm's way. Which brings us to the current situation in Tokyo. After thwarting an attempt to spread the infection overseas through a plane carrying evacuees, Ken learns that Kuroh has attacked the local shopping mall and rigged the Tokyo underground with explosive Carriers called Blast Mites.

Minor outbreaks occurred over the next few years, but elite squad quickly put them down. Using the research gained from the Ground: ALPHA specimens, a team of some special individuals were assembled.

Instead, infested victims were larger, stronger… and driven by hunger. However, unlike most genetic failures, these symptoms were not fatal. These larvae penetrated the bloodstream and triggered a variety of genetic failures.

These parasites, we call them "Alpha-worms", laid dozens of eggs inside their hosts, which in turn produced numerous larvae. A previously unidentified species of hook worm was found beneath the skin of the Ground: ALPHA specimens. These victims displayed signs of internal liquefaction and accelerated necrosis, similar to symptoms of other flesh-eating viruses native to that region.īut it wasn't a viral outbreak. Victims of the attack were quarantined at a research facility nearby. Only four were successfully contained for study. Eight specimens were encountered in the region now referred to as "Ground:ALPHA". These rabid creatures were easily provoked and resistant to conventional attack. While investigating reports of unlawful weapons trafficking, peacekeeping forces encountered an unclassified carnivorous species occupying a small village in Northern Africa.
